oh my gosh its been so long this blog is getting so dusty.
2 weeks! hahaha. okay recapsss.

ITS FINALLY THE HOLIDAYS MAN :D:D:D

sat
gamelan workshop at republic poly early in the morning o_o (eyebags)
spent an enriching time there learning about javanese gamelan :D
i played saron barung, super nice sound but complicated dampening technique
slenthem, wa the mallet damn heavy sia hahaha
kendang, hand pain from all the drumming
gongs!!! :D hahaha now i know how to differentiate gong ageng from kempuls.
got ferried back to sch, bused to cineleisure to meet the band for sushi buffet :)
had a great time eating, drinking, crapping.. blahblah.
went esplanade library with stuart to meet bize to study, ended up talking -_- gah
dinnered at carl's junior at marina, realised it was 10 alr and rushed home haha.

another bandless day. felt quite empty.
went for clarinet lesson makeup. omg he was nearly 2 hours late -_-
ended real late, cabbed home, died on my bed.

parents fetched me to some ulu place for their dinner.
went vivo to shop, nothing much.

spent an hour plus searching for cds and ripping songs (nyeheh)
kreisler rocks man. i love his praeludium and allegro.
did some work, went dinner at marina food court plus marm.
went suntec with kristen, met mel to get my lap back, bused home.

had chinese oral. what a sian feeling.
had clarinet lesson, trained with kristen and gerdine.

extremely pissed off with a certain someone early in the morning.
so much that i sort of shouted in edwin's face. sorry brudder, we good always yea.

aft sch brought suiying (and a whole lot of ppl) to dover market for bubble tea :)
haha, thanks suiying for monday, it could have become a huge catastrophe without your help :P
back to school for band. practiced duet aft band.
cabbed to mus'art with joel.
thought we were late but we managed to be on time for combined cause they had sectionals first.
got addicted to joel's psp game locoroco!!!! omgomgomg :D super cute.

ensemble practice! i'm playing alto clar for ensem yay! :D
so eggciting :D yup.
cabbed to electone, quite late. more songs.
she let me off earlyish but very happily but at least she could tell i practiced :)
rushed down to nafa for restless and got lost for about half an hour
campus 3 should die but anyways, it was a REALLY GOOD SHOW omg
great job to all the ac dancers man! you guys were superb! :D
they danced for 1 and a half hours nonstop, goodness, crazy stamina. well done!
dad picked me up at bugis, i died on my bed.

thurs
an extremely tiring day.
aft school rushed to taka to get royce chocolates for mr chua
then rushed to crescent to give mr chua his b'day present :D happy bday! :D
passed the tune-in letter to ms azilah and paid ms lgp a (long) visit haha.
rushed back to school for pw meeting with my dad as consultant
then went for band exco interview.
haha, my heart felt so itchy just before i went in. weird right? itchy.
but anyway, after the intense interview which drained my brain juice from all that thinking
rushed home for math tuition which i was late by half an hour haha
died on my bed after dinner.

fri
I FINALLY PASSED MY 2.4 NAPFA TEST OMGOMGOMG! CHEER PLS! :D:D:D:D:D
i've been failing it like since the time we started running. probably ran like 5 times alr.
i have to thank gerdine michelle and edwin for pacing me
esp gerdine who paced all 6 rounds and pulled me along for the last 3 rounds omg sooo embarassing! hahaha
thanks guys so much! love you all! band gang :D
thanks to my classmates as well, standing at the checkpoint cheering me on and all (haha silly liah) thanks! :D
yup anw, so it was halfday!! :D
went town with ben to spend my heeren and sakae vouchers :)
lunched at sakae, shopped at hmv and bought hearty paws :D
so eggcited to watch it with my mum!
bused back to school practiced duets, sche, ensem.
mel came, ordered macs for dinner.
went bugis to meet parents for supper then went home.

ensem practice! :D haha i'm totally in love with GR now okay haha
so am i with the alto clar haha :P i shall master it real soon!
sectionals then performing arts lunch in the badminton hall! gosh huge affair.
band, choir, co, guitar, strings, drama.. etc etc all the perf arts grps :D
i think not enough food for so many ppl.. haha. lunched with em then walked around.
back to vg, combined was a disaster. sectionals again, combined sectionals.
practiced alto a little more, passed by the canteen for haato, climbed the gate to go heritage view for band bbq! :D
haha, i think i helped a lot more as compared to last yr's tune in man haha. last time still sec4 noobie lol.
YINGDO is such a slacker! tsktsktsk. oei return the cds or else you pay my library fine ah.
talk about 4-way satay bbq-ing. all rubbish man.. put the satay there then sit down relac eh haha.
spent the evening flipping aluminium-wrapped sotongs and stingrays, turning beef patties and making burgers :)
had lots of fun even though i smelled like smoked chicken after all that bbq-ing haha
many ppl left, then when it was just down to a small group of us michelle suggested this blind mice game
hahaha it was DAMN FUN LA HAHAHA so addictive!
we all kena at least once i think, and it was so fun to run around the playground like kids again :D
after countless rounds we decided to stop and go home, dad came to fetch and i died on my bed as usual :)

woke up early and left for malaysia with parents and uncle
after a mcbreakfast i fell dead asleep for hours listening to GR and romanfest
woke up, went to some chinese restaurant for lunch
went to visit my maternal grandma in the makota hospital, she just had her leg op on tues
she looks tired, sad, weary.. seeing her smile at me through her pain hurts me somehow.
moving on, went to some shopping centre nearby, then back to the hospital to visit once more before leaving.
spent the journey back home reading, playing hp games, sleeping.. etc.
dinnered at some clementi coffeeshop. cute cat! ahhh it kept rubbing against my legs. so adorable! :)
went home, uncle and cousin left. bathed, practiced GR.
and i'm finally finished with recaps.

i'm so tired man.
actually i'm feeling a lot of funny emotions now.
i'm tired. happy. sad. excited. doubtful. hopeful. confused.
4 weeks. i hope i use it wisely. so many things to do.
band- practices, movie, camp, muse.
lessons- gp, electone, clarinet, math.
concerts - choir, co.
outings, bbqs, mus'art, etc etc.
MUGGING. hai.

time to catch up on sleep.
i hope i can finish techniques on time.
recording on tues, writeup on wed.. hopefully i can hand up on thurs.
choir concert tmr, quite eager to see their show :) night.

ANGLO-CHINESE JUNIOR COLLEGE CONCERT BAND
GOLD WITH HONOURS

yes, we're shining.

the day started off with a very heartwarming moment
woke up at 10am feeling very contented in my favourite toasty fluffy bedsheets
(i had them changed the day before so as to ensure i would definitely have a great night's sleep before syf)
and discovered i received 7 messages of good luck, mostly from my classmates.
thanks guys, it was really heartwarming to have you guys supporting us all the way :)
got changed and left for school in a cab in half number1s
reached school, gladys spotted me from the bleachers! hahaha.
dumped stuff in lt4, went to look for madam to get harmony homework.
met my section in the void deck for macs brunch together with double reeds/lww section (bagel!)
and i was the only one in half uniform -_- the rest were all in tshirts and whatnots zZz.
oh yes and my cute classmates who were so excited to see me, like omg samho how was syf!
and i'm like haha not yet la, we haven't even go yet hahaha.
after eating and drinking mingxuan's 'clari'-gen, went back to lt4 to set up
warmed up, tuned, combined, break, combined. we were sounding good.
the exco, alumni, and ms sng went up to speak to us.
many moments i felt touched, moved and happy i nearly teared, especially during the 2 alumnus' speeches
the helpers came in and showed us the cards they made; let me hear you acj, more than musicians!
that seriously made me very touched and grateful, i almost teared again
then we had to leave for SCH, the buses came and off we went with jasmine sitting on my lap (cramp bus)
reported, waited downstairs to go to our tuning room. the - were damn irritating but nevermind.
finally went to the tuning room, started with breathing exercises before we tuned and played
sounded kinda shaky though, esp the tuning scare at the fanfare
started getting a little shaken from the bad tuning but we managed to get it sorted before we left
kept my spirits high after we left the tuning room, was so excited! :)
started dancing to tj's sunrise hahahaha but yeah was so happy and excited about performing
totally didn't have any other thoughts in my mind other than having a great time later on
kept instruments warm all the way till the time we had to go in, and once again i was the last like in 2003 haha
and it was time to SHINE :)
dr lee came in, we did our last 2 bars of rhythmic exercise.
and the chord was BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL. absolute ORGAN SOUND.
ringing in the hall when we ended. simply fantastic.
my moral was boosted, i was so ready to play so well and i started trembling with excitement
and lo behold! our fellow IB friends were sitting right in front of us, the first 2 rows!
i looked at them and i saw gen's friend, who gave me such a huge encouraging smile :)
i couldn't bear but smile back in excitement :)
thank you friend, you gave me even more inspiration and courage to play even better :)
we started safari well, the percussion did their thing, the trumpets called out elephant-ly,
michelle aced her marimba solo, joel gave a sexy dirty rendition of his beautiful solo which i loved.
everything fell into place perfectly, the gimmicks were great, clapping and sound effects were good.
we ended perfectly, i shouted till i couldn't even hear myself and all of us went down with such precision.
a superbly executed set piece, in my opinion, the best safari we've ever did so far.
i felt great and happy that i had so much fun doing all the gimmicks and performing our very own safari
and as i prepared for roman festival i could see dr lee grinning :)
roman festival up next, we started off real confident and i trembled even more with excitement
i slipped slightly in the 2nd bar, coming in a split second early for concert A before we hit the low concert Ab.
but somehow i didn't hear it, perhaps due to the rest coming in and covering the sound.. don't know why.
the rest of the the first movement was alright, and the ending of R3 felt really great
the beginning of the fourth movement was good too, i was quite in tune with the chord
i was already on a high at R28 and all the way till R30, it felt really great playing the whole chunk
the clarinet soli section sounded quite out of tune in the beginning but it became better after that
and then came the waltz! R36! it was the BEST waltz we ever played.
the waltz with the most feel ever, i felt so so happy playing it! :) dr lee was grinning again haha.
lambchop's solo sounded alright, and the parts following it were alright too
the two pickups were a little weird, some said it was out of tune but i don't know, it just felt a little weird
and a few small unnoticeable squeaks escaped from my instrument during the tutti part
but i was glad they were the unnoticeable kind and not the horribly loud and awful squeaks phew.
R43 was one of the best ever, we all broke into festivity properly (hahaha) and the end was good as well
i surprised myself by not breathing throughout R45 at all haha! glad that i finished all the running notes in 1 breath
we ended great, our split second delay was perfect and everything fell into place
i stood up so proudly, smiling with excitement and still trembling.
it felt so good, everything felt so good. (sorry i have bad vocab haha can only use good)
i walked offstage, still smiling, thinking about how great we played, how much i enjoyed myself
we had so much fun performing those 2 pieces, probably the most fun out of all the practices
and as we left the hall i started to smile so widely and feel so excited,
having just experienced the greatest feeling of playing well and enjoying your own playing
once outside ben turned around we starting smiling and laughing, i started jumping again (haha)
and walking down the stairs and past all the school supporters and other bands felt so good somehow haha
we were instructed to put our instruments at the side of the hall and the - were so irritating again,
i got so damn pissed off when they started ordering us around,
so much that i flared up at stuart when he joked about having a fight. sorry!
you should fight with them though, i would rather you beat them up haha.
after we finished arranging our instruments to their oh-so-godly orders we went downstairs
met old friends, mus'art people, etc etc. slacked with the rest of the band somewhere upstairs.
the elated feeling never really left me, i felt happy like the rest who agreed that it was the best ever we performed
although some felt it wasn't really the best cause of small unnoticeable slips i felt that it was really our best
everyone put in their own best and despite small mistakes our hearts our hopes and our aims were one on stage
so it was the best ever performance i'd say.
emily and i met xingtong and pamela, and when pamela asked us if we had any regrets we were proud to say no.
not at all. i felt so good saying that, it was such a stark difference compared to syf 03
whereby i felt so regretful and disappointed i walked offstage in tears and burst out crying once outside the hall.
yea. those were the days.
moving on, somehow we were shooed to the bottom floor and the results were going to be out soon.
tried calling baohui who was inside and we totally could not connect cause the network was busy -_- haha
all other bands like acband were huddled over phones on loudspeakers, trying to hear what the results were
one by one the bands around us jumped up in joy or hugged each other in tears
i started getting nervous and excited, i knew we would get at least a gold
and i was hoping so hard the moment we left the hall that we would get honours
i hoped so hard that the judges would be able to see all the hard work we put in and how we peaked and shone on stage, full of confidence, and how we peformed beautifully for that 10 minutes and award us with the honours.
and just at the correct moment, i finally could get through to baohui
the only thing i heard through the phone was static, not even 'anglo-chinese junior college'
and the next thing i knew was everyone around me started shouting, screaming, jumping
emily and i were like what what! and that 1 word let loose all my emotions - HONOURS!
i jumped up from my seat, jumping up, shouting, crying, hugging emily, zhiwen marm, all the people around me
it was one of those rare moments when you are so overjoyed that you can't help but cry tears of happiness
i felt so ecstatic, so proud to be an acsian, to be part of acband, to be shining with glory.
we were all drowned in happiness, hardly able to breathe
by the time we cooled down from the euphoria we had to get our instruments and leave
unfortunately the woodwinds' bus came super late and we had to stand outside in the heat waiting aimlessly haha
the j3s came to congratulate us, to give us handshakes and hugs and to tell us how proud they were of us :)
met baohui and zhihao who were happy to share the joy; thanks for coming!
and finally after a very long wait the bus came and we all went back to school to pack up and gather on stage
sang the school song as one band and zhenrong led a cheer, the guys got taopokked, mx got stripped in the qm room
dr lee came in grinning, and then everyone left the school together for band dinner :)
first it was swensens, then changed to BK
got my caramel frap, had a great dinner relishing how great our syf experience was
dad came to fetch, went home and bathed, went to bed after packing my stuff
and i fell asleep dreaming of our shining gold with honours.

to the exco, thankyou for writing the funny encouragement notes for the entire band!
thanks for all the pep talks throughout this whole journey to encourage us and get us into the syf mood
thanks for the priceless effort and for being great friends and mentors :)
to the non-syf ppl, thankyou for all the support and encouragement through this whole time!
thanks for the notes and the support, especially gladys who never fails to cheer me up when i'm stressed

haha, its finally here! :D
i'm sooo excited, i can't wait to make music with the band.

assembly, chapel, council elections, contact time..
i remember rushing for some sort of mep thing? don't know.
gosh, surprise test again.. but thankfully the madams allowed us to hand up the next day.
econs mock test, gah..
band. warmup, combined, rest.
performance for college. small crowd, it wasn't our best.
combined, end.
KO on sofa without knowing for 2 hours.
bathe, dinner, KO in front of computer while doing mep.
somehow dragged myself up to bed and died.

tues
woke up at 7.30 and realised i switched off the 5am alarm and didn't get up.
therefore mep assignment undone. and that screwed my entire day.
stomachache, missed 4 periods of chinese.
pe, 2.4km. econs lecture (zzz).
stomachache again, missed 2 periods of math.
tech was ok.
OH MY GOD SO THANKFUL THAT THE WHOLE ORDEAL IS OVER.
gladys knows wth happened. i've never rushed like that in my whole life.
so relieved its all over. rah.
band, long prac. combined sectionals, combined, dinner with dr lee.
mug asian to not much avail.
the end of the most tiring day in my life. emotionally, physically, psychologically.

wed phantom of the opera
breakless day. my only 20min break taken up by asian consultation.
gp video on environment! haha. lit timed assignment was quite alright.
pccg replaced by some current affairs quiz.. haha quite lame.
band, runthrough, ended at 5.30.
that means i could make it to phantom! omg.
yay on one hand and shit on the other cause i felt so bad going instead of pris.
afterall i offered her first. so yeah. still feel quite bad. sorry!
almost late cause i stayed in sch for something. grabbed breadtalk on the way.
wow, my 2nd time at phantom and quite a lot is different!
firstly different seating (foyer stalls, HAHA DAMN GOOD)
then the show got much better, as in the drama and acting etc
and the music was quite terrible :( okay la, it was grand indeed
but the violins were SO out of tune :(:(:(
sad la. esp at the climax part. such a nice chord and they're out of tune. sigh :(
anyway, went to see the orchestral pit! ahhahaha cool stuff!
the clarinets use vandoren reeds. haha. i wish one day i could play for some musical like them too.
started getting really tired and sleepy at the start of the second half.
the ending was really quite grand, the phantom sung with so much emotion i heard ppl crying
and they ended a little differently! haha it was good yup.
went home and KO on the bed.

thurs
woke up at 6 instead of 5 to study for asian test.
ended up sleeping on the table -_- tsk.
studied throughout lit lect.
ended up sleeping on the table for the last 20 mins -_- argh.
asian test was.. holy crap. quite screwed la.
there is so no gong ageng in the 2nd extract la. sigh don't know alr la.
watched gp video again, hahaha.
SLEPT THROUGH THE WHOLE OF CHINESE ie 1hour 10min
(she woke me up 10min before the end)
omg she took like HOW LONG to realise i was sleeping?!?! seriously.
felt damn good after that. more energised but oh well.
left halfway during math lect for band.
runthrough, talks, etcetc. exco made cake for us! haha.
didn't get to eat cause ben and i practiced the duet.
dinner with dr lee at blk5 again, dad came to fetch.

a short but exhausting week.
3-day week for me in fact.

sun
packed my stuff for the whole afternoon
went out for dinner and strings recital at esplanade with dom.
haha, the word 'shutup' is very effective on him lol.
the recital studio is cool.. haha i liked the third piece.
haha dom was like, guess whats my bus number, i give you 3 chances
i got wrong for the first two and then he was gonna laugh at me when 'oh no my bus come alr! -runs off-'
HAHA.

mon
as blogged, i mugged econs like mad that night.
i think i dozed off after i completed the first section of the second set of notes
rushed to school, assembly in lt1 yay!
turns out mr lancelot was like, when's the test?
and so there was NO ECONS TEST, THANKS A LOT.
hence helped myself to many many servings of sleep throughout the day.
aft sch went home to drop my stuff and pick up the clarinet
cabbed/trained/bused to laoshi's house (LATE AGAIN, wth)
i seriously doubt i should put my stuff at home first, but nevermind
was 45 minutes late, started warming up first
laoshi appeared 1.5 hours late ._.
well at least i'm not that late la. haha.
aft lesson dad came to fetch, we went changi airport for dinner! :) fish&co.
got damn sleepy aft dinner so slept on the way home and KO after bathing.

tues labourday aka SCH soundcheck
haha, zhenrong and his soundchek
warmups in school, bused to SCH and had an extremely unproductive soundcheck.
i really don't know why we just couldn't follow dr lee properly that morning
i would blame it on the timing, cause like it was 10 plus in the morning
and everyone's still tired from yesterday, half asleep kind of thing
i don't know la, but only like the last 15 minutes did we play properly and sound okay.
totally wasted soundcheck. and all that trouble to wear our number 1s. wasted, wasted, wasted.
quite unhappy about that fact but decided not to harp on it so yea.
section lunch at bk, then back to school for combined which we sounded much better than at soundcheck
argh :( oh well. dinner at subway, heard quite undesirable stuff so got quite unhappy.
back home online i kind of flared up at an old friend because of what i heard at dinner
felt damn bad after that but we sorted things out and now we're okay
somehow i wish i didn't hear all that during dinner so i wouldn't have to worry about that factor
but nevermind.

wed
assembly in lt1 again! but it rained and i was late
so in the end edwin and i stood outside lt1's back door and didn't dare to go in
we just watched on from the projector screen -_-
oh we watched great expectations for the whole 1hr of lit! fun fun :)
got quite stressed during mep cause i caught no ball.
aft sch rushed to dover to buy cotton buds for the section to clean mouthpiece
decided to check the mamashop at blk2 instead (nearer to sch) and yay! there were cotton buds!
haha so i saved a trip to dover yay haha.
combined sectionals till 5plus, played duets till almost 6.
cabbed to yamaha while dropping bize mx ben along the way
and realised there was NO LESSON argh argh argh! wasted.
started feeling an ominous tickle in my throat so drank lots of water throughout the day.

haha, quite proud of my group's econs presentation!
we're great bullshitters. seriously! without preparation and we can make the issue damn big and impt.
slept during gp in a very unnoticable posiiton (as denied by my fellow bandmates)
cried during chinese when i read edwin's essay (AGAIN OMG, THIRD ONE ALR)
this essay was the worst man, i cried buckets when i finished reading it.
edwin ought to become an author. gosh the story is DAMN SAD LA. gah.
went dover with gerdine michelle aft sch for dinner! bubble tea :)
back to sch for combined, fell sick DURING combined all of a sudden, wth D:
the ominous tickle in my throat started getting worse so my throat got sore-r by the minute
my nose started to block and i started to cough
and all of a sudden i felt cold to the point that i needed gerdine's jacket.
end result: sore throat, cough, flu, fever.
fever got so bad that night i couldn't do anything at all but sleep.

fri
didn't go to school. went to see doctor who gave me lots of colourful pills and an mc for 2 days.
back home, ate lunch and realised to my horror that i needed to return the cds to madam by friday
called madam through the sch and didn't really get scolded. phew.
slept away three hours on the couch, woke up and lazed around the house.
couldn't do much work cause the fever took all my concentration away.
sort of wasted the whole day but oh well. did harmony and techniques at night.
slept rather late cause i had about 12 hours of sleep the previous night.

sat
was supposedly to be on mc but i wanted to go for band so yea.
finished up techniques during sectionals, had catered lunch, watched the band during combined.
they sounded okay.. well, shan't comment too much about it.
nearly slept when they played romanfest and felt as though i were floating, haha.
tried to do econs but to not much avail.
got super super super cold at one point of time and em lent me her windbreaker.
stayed on AND went for dinner even though i was asked to go home. oops. haha, no food at home ma.
tapaoed yongtaufoo into katonglaksa.
some conflict/issue occured, bize and i got into deep shit. (perhaps it wasn't that deep shit but i dunno.)
felt damn damn damn bad and so hopeless.
in the end bize and i waited outside swensens for damn long.
after everyone finished we chased after him and apologised. i dunno la, got no comments.
just don't want to get into this kind of trouble anymore.
damn traumatising, we couldn't do anything except think about it for more than an hour la!
we just kept thinking about it until we couldn't take it anymore.
i don't ever want to play such mind games again. its damn emotionally draining.

sun
kept waking up and going back to sleep.
so in the end i slept too much (if there is ever too much) and became rather lethargic the whole day.
had a long continued bad dream. something like..
a 'day' safari
sand dunes
a hot and stuffy work shop
zoo exhibition
going out of a hotel at night with a friend
a spooky economical rice shop
a missing chinese character
ghostly people
food for the dead (cremated food?)
the shopkeeper haunting me
a group of girls crying in the toilet
flushing 'death' food down the toiletbowl
weird right? i guess the safari and zoo part is purely explainable
and the friend part is explainable too (i talked to her last night online)
but i don't know about the 'death food' part. spooky.
having a bad cough.

yup, its just as i said.. i died by the end of this week.
oh well. i hope i get better by tomorrow.

back to studying.

oh my gosh.
i said i would neglect my work just for these 2 weeks
and today i realised ITS NOT LETTING ME
OMG ARGHHHH.
school has been crazy.
i mean today. and probably for the rest of this week and the next.
my mind is full of band and syf ALL THE TIME
i'm almost not thinking half the time. ARGH
only after edwin told me then i realised that i'm actually damn stressed up
or else i would've just continued looking stressed without even knowing
and die halfway or something ie breakdown without reason like how i almost did in math

its not the same pain as i felt before muse now
its a different sort of pain
back then it was not being able to make it in time
knowing we cannot accomplish our goals before we even stepped on stage
now its all about unity.
i know we can do it. i can feel us charged up with energy as we play romanfest or even safari.
but are we all heading in the same direction?
yes, i feel it, more of us are getting into the competition mood
but what about every single one of us?
together, united?

so many more things in my mind, so many more things to say

chin up and breathe
back to practicing.
i pray that tomorrow will be better and not another bad day AGAIN
or else i might die by the end of this week.

btw i really don't wish to spend so much time online blogging and crapping
but i SERIOUSLY need to vent, so there
